I especially love traditions at Christmas time. Jared and I spent part of Christmas with my family and we started a tradition by having a Bethlehem dinner the Sunday before Christmas as a way to slow down and think about the Savior a little more.
I helped my mom and aunt plan, cook and set up our dinner. My dad made a candle holder of 42 candles and we turned out all the lights and just ate by candle and Christmas tree lights — it was so fun! We had little finger bowls with lemon to wash our hands, but this meal is meant to be eaten with your fingers. We had lamb kabobs with peppers and roasted tomatoes, orange rice, roasted new potatoes and buttery greens beans topped with sliced almonds.
We served small plates of pita bread, hummus, tzatziki sauces, dried fruit and nuts — such a massive spread by the time it was all set out! We also make homemade baklava for dessert! YUMM! The food was soo delicious!
We talked and laughed and tried a little bit of everything — with our fingers and using pita bread as a makeshift serving spoon! ha! it was so fun to be together and enjoy such a nostalgic meal together. I loved it soo much!
