Let’s talk about balance. It’s something that’s been on my mind a lot lately! This past year has really opened my eyes to SO many things, especially how important it is to be aware of the things we put on and inside our bodies. I have always LOVED snacks and snacking especially when I’m snuggled up to read a good book (my favorite was goldfish mixed with those Hershey chocolate bars that have the toffee and nuts in them– the sweet and salty just can’t be beat!). My mom would always get so annoyed because I would leave ziplock bags full of crumbs all over the house from my snacking on chips or cheese-its haha sometimes I would spend the entire day just snacking and maybe have a frozen pizza or some taquitos for dinner and it was the life! haha!
After I married Jared and realized that he needed real food and meals with protein, I realized that I needed to reevaluate my eating habits– and I’ve been so thankful ever since!! I learned to cook and realized that I really enjoy it and that I felt so much better when I ate real food more consistently. I got really into learning about what foods are good for you and learned how to interpret lists of ingredients and where foods are sourced so that I could buy food and products that would benefit our bodies– and it was amazing!! I had so much more energy throughout the day and my urge to snack decreased which felt like a total win!
Now, back to creating balance! Eating healthier and being more conscious of what I put in my body has been so amazing for me and I have felt so much better because of it. That being said– I STILL LOVE TREATS! And that’s okay!! It brings me so much joy to eat all the no-bake cookies and muddy buddies and SMASH (my absolute favorite Norwegian treat) and cookie dough ice cream :)) It makes me double happy to do both!! Somedays I eat “healthier” than others but I try to find a good balance so that my body stays nourished and taken care of while also staying happy and content! It’s important to just listen to your body– it knows what you need!!
