I love Christmas! And this was Jared and I’s first Christmas together — just him and I in our new apartment. I loved the theme of our Christmas decorations — some Scandinavian treasures that I found at local boutiques and a few I brought home from Norway.
I wanted to do an intimate little Christmas with another couple before Christmas and I was so excited to decorate! I decided to keep it simple and use a mix of things I already had in my Christmas box. I loved the theme of pinks and greens together and had some left over pink and white checked gingham fabric from a dress I made in the summer. I love the fabric so much and was excited to have just enough to make napkins for each place setting. I also had a few yards of chartreuse ribbon I used to accent.
I also added fresh greenery and a Norwegian advent candle holder I ordered on Etsy from the sweetest seller who had a really fun vintage holder. (sidenote: In Norway, Advent is celebrated with four candles, one for each Sunday. All four candles fit in the candle holder from the first Sunday, when just one candle is lit. The second Sunday, the first and next candles are lit, lighting one more candle each week. Then, each week after the candle is lit, a song is sung or poem read. It’s so fun! I spent 2 Christmas’s in Norway and loved so many of their traditions!)
I loved the simpleness of adding a few ornaments from my tree tucked here and there to feel a little more festive while adding a little woodland touch. I am loving toadstools right now and when I saw a ceramic one at a store, I had to buy it! I reminds me of hiking in Norway and coming across a red and white toadstool. I had never seen one in real life — and didn’t even know they actually existed outside of books! ha! I just love them so much! They are soo cute!
I also found some glitter pine cones at Target and retied them with some cute ribbon for each place setting. I have also had the cutest nutcracker cupcake set forever and finally had just the right moment to use these toothpicks for each place setting! I love the Nutcracker ballet and went every year with my mom growing up! We would dress up and go to the ballet and watch the magical story unfold…..ahhhh! sooo dreamy!
So, I hope you will enjoy a fun setup of some of my favorite things to entertain for Christmas! (and don’t miss the sweetest little felt mouse nativity set! it’s sooo cute!
